App Distribution - Android Users

  1. Click the APK link or scan the QR code provided by your agency. If you do not have this file please contact your agency's app Administrator
  2. A message will pop up saying "This type of file can harm your device. Do you want to keep (APK file).apk anyway?"

  1. Click "OK". The file will download. Click "Open".
  2. Chrome: "For your security, your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source." Click "Settings".

  1. Install unknown apps: "Allow from this source" click the toggle so it's enabled. Tap the back arrow.

  1. You will see the icon and title of your app now and it asks "Do you want to install this application?" then click "Install".
  2. An "Installing..." dialog will briefly display followed by…
  3. Blocked by Play Protect: "Play Protect doesn't recognize this app's developer. Apps from unknown developers can sometimes be unsafe."
  4. Click "Install Anyway", not "OK". It's confusing because "OK" is highlighted by default. If you click "OK" the app will not install and you will need to repeat the above steps to get back to this step.

  1. The "Installing..." dialog will finish followed by "Send app for scanning?"
  2. "Play Protect hasn't seen this app before. To protect yourself and others, send it for a security scan." click "Send". (Sometimes this step does not show up or it's delayed until after the app has been opened.)

For phones running older versions of Android

Allow Install from "Unknown Sources"

  1. Enter the Settings menu. Tap on Security.
  2. Look for the Unknown Sources toggle. Toggle on – or tap to put a checkmark – on Unknown Sources to allow installation.

Install the application (APK)

  1. Download the APK file from [INSERT APK]
  2. Open your file manager app. The downloaded APK file usually goes to the Downloads folder.
  3. Tap on the APK to start the installation.
  4. Review the permissions, then go on with the installation.
  5. Once they install the app they should turn the option to allow install from "Unknown Sources" back off.
